To Set Up and Run Rashi:
- Click the link above, save the file (rashi2.zip)
on your computer
- Unzip the rashi2.zip file:
- For Mactintosh users:
- double-click the Rashi.zip file
- For Windows XP users:
- you will need to use a third party tool such as WinZip or WinRar to unzip the folder.
- For Windows Vista users:
- Right-click on the folder, and choose "Extract All"
- DO NOT JUST DOUBLE-CLICK THE RASHI2.ZIP FILE IN VISTA. This allows you to see the contents, but does not actually unzip the file.
- Open the Rashi folder (created when you unzipped the Rashi.zip archive)
- Double-click Rashi.jar
- This will bring you to the Log In Screen

- Please note that the tutorial video is somewhat outdated. Important updates include:
- The addition of collaboration tools: chatting and comparison features
- The notebook is now one combined tool that used to be referred to as the argument editor and the notebook

To Register, Log In, and Use Rashi:
- On the Log In Screen, click the 'Register'
button
- Choose a username and password
- Note: Your username will be how you are identified to others
if you are working collaboratively
- Choose your class and section from the drop-down menus
- If you are not in a class, or your class is not listed, choose none
- If prompted, choose a collaboration group by selecting the appropriate radio button
- You will receive a message that registration was succesful, and be returned to the Log In Screen
- Once you have returned the Log In Screen, type in the username and password you created
- Choose a domain and case to work on
- This will bring you to the main Rashi page for your current case. Explore and enjoy!

System Requirements:
- JAVA version 1.5 (JAVA 5) or above
- Download the latest version of java for your machine here
- Note to Macintosh Users: JAVA 1.5 is only made for OS X 10.4 and
later. therefore, you must have at least OS X 10.4 to use Rashi

Development Version:
Disclaimer: This version is currently under development,
so users may lose work, experience bugs, or the system might not function
correctly depending on the development cycle. This version is not to
be used for serious user work, but rather get a glimpse
of and allow testing of the latest and greatest features the Rashi team
is developing.
